Thieves of the Wood

Ambientada en el corazón de Flandes del siglo XVIII, Thieves of the Wood es un drama de época bastante bueno, incluso si cae un poco demasiado lejos en aguas melodramáticas hacia el final de la serie. En su mayor parte, sin embargo, el espectáculo hace bien en hacer malabares con su elenco central de personajes, con Jan el más simpático fuera del grupo. Con algunos gráficos arenosos y un diseño de producción decente, este drama flamenco es sin duda suficiente para justificar un reloj, incluso si es poco probable que encienda la escena dramática de época.
Es cierto que no sé mucho sobre este período de la historia, que es la fiesta por qué el drama es tan atractivo. En el corazón de la misma, aunque se encuentra el soldado Jan, que descubre que la corrupción está plagada en su ciudad natal, gracias en parte a los enfermos y pobres exiliados a los bosques. Con una clara división de clases, esta primera actuación como combustible para los conflictos que se avecinan, al otro lado de la valla está Baru, un nuevo alguacil interesado en inculcar reformas y cambios. La tercera y última historia principal gira en torno a Heloise y juntos, este trío de personajes esencialmente anclan el drama a los tropos habituales que cabría esperar.
Hay indicios de una trama de Robin Hood en el trabajo aquí y a lo largo de la serie la mayor parte del drama gira en torno a una carretera que se está construyendo que actúa como el quid de conflicto para ambas partes. A medida que la serie crece, esto cambia ligeramente para incorporar temas más románticos, pero hay un par de giros agradables tarde en que mantienen las cosas interesantes. No voy a dar mucho, pero basta con decir si te gusta el drama de personajes y elementos jabonosos, Thieves of the Wood es una muy buena opción.
Estéticamente al menos, el espectáculo se ve genial. Hay un marcado contraste entre ricos y pobres aquí, exhibido deliberadamente a través de extremos de cerca del barro y la suciedad, mientras que las tomas anchas y amplias de los lujosos interiores ofrecen lo contrario para los ricos. Es un truco sutil, pero que funciona bien para reforzar los temas que se juegan a lo largo de la temporada.
En términos de diseño de vestuario y producción, Thieves of the Wood lo hace bien y hay un verdadero esfuerzo para que esto sea lo más auténtico posible. Al principio se usa una palabra de maldición específica que tuve que mirar hacia arriba para asegurarme de que fuera apropiada para el período de tiempo, pero más allá de eso, la serie hace bien en mantener las cosas consistentes y creíbles.
Con imágenes decentes y un entorno inusual que no se muestra a menudo, Thieves of the Wood realmente no reinventa la rueda, pero hace un muy buen trabajo manteniendo las cosas atractivas sin embargo. Si estás de humor para un drama de época, esta es una oferta bastante buena y aunque yo no era un gran fan de la subtrama romántica, hay suficiente aquí para hacer una temporada de entretenimiento poco notable pero bastante sólida.
